C-urb is seeking a new managing director of property maintenance to oversee a major in-house maintenance operation serving more than 20,000 customers across Scotland. For facilities management stakeholders, the leadership transition reflects increasing focus on operational resilience, compliance management and service transformation across large-scale housing and estates portfolios.

The Herald reported that the appointment follows the planned retirement of the company’s existing director and will place the successful candidate in charge of a workforce of 270 employees alongside substantial operational and capital budgets. The role includes oversight of reactive repairs, planned maintenance, cyclical programmes, compliance management, asset investment and commercial refurbishment activity.

The managing director will report to C-urb’s executive director for commercial operations and the company chief executive officer, while also leading efforts to expand the organisation’s external customer base and develop new commercial opportunities across Scotland’s central belt. The position is expected to play a key role in embedding digital innovation and new operating models into maintenance and property services.

C-urb said candidates will require senior leadership experience in complex and regulated operational environments, alongside expertise in construction, surveying or facilities management. Professional membership of bodies such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Institute of Building or Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management is also sought.

The recruitment reflects wider facilities management trends in housing and property maintenance, where organisations are investing in operational leadership capable of improving productivity, regulatory oversight and long-term asset performance through technology-enabled service delivery.

The role also signals continued emphasis on customer-focused maintenance models as providers seek to balance service quality, workforce management and sustainable operational growth.
