Northern Ireland construction and fit-out firm Gilbert-Ash has marked a simultaneous topping out on two Premier Inn hotel developments in Dublin city centre — Premier Inn Jervis Street and Premier Inn O'Connell Street — in a milestone that reinforces the scale of sustainable hotel facility delivery currently under way in Ireland.
Insider Media reported that both projects are being developed for Whitbread PLC, the UK hospitality group that owns the Premier Inn brand, with both hotels due for completion at the end of 2026 and scheduled to open in early 2027.
Together, the two developments will deliver 444 of Premier Inn's latest format guest bedrooms in the heart of Dublin, marking a significant step in Gilbert-Ash's growth ambitions within its home market of Ireland.
Both the Jervis Street and O'Connell Street Premier Inn hotels have been designed to achieve BREEAM 'Excellent', with sustainability described as a key focus for Gilbert-Ash across a number of ongoing initiatives to reduce the company's carbon footprint.
Ray Hutchinson, managing director of Gilbert-Ash, said: "Reaching the topping out stage is always a rewarding milestone. It's the moment when we start to see the building emerge from its plans."
Hutchinson added that both projects continue to make excellent progress, describing collaboration with Whitbread and project partners as hugely satisfying, and expressing confidence that both hotels will become highly sought-after destinations for visitors to Dublin.
Emma O'Shiel, project and programme manager for Whitbread in Ireland, said topping out two prime Dublin city centre hotel developments on the same day demonstrates the scale of Premier Inn's ambitions in Ireland, adding that the company needs the support of an experienced contractor and development team to build complex hotel developments to our high standards.
