John Jenkins, Head of IFM Operational Performance at Mitie, has been named Facilities Management UK Leader 2026 at the Facilities Management Awards UK 2026, held last 25th September at the Park Plaza London Riverbank. The title goes to a leader whose results can be measured, and whose past 12 months at Mitie show what operational focus can deliver.
John Jenkins has more than 20 years' experience in facilities management. Over the past year he led a major turnaround on the Lloyds Banking Group account, increasing KPI delivery from four of nine to eight of nine through detailed process reviews and new ways of working. That doubled the number of KPIs met on one of the sector's most closely watched accounts.
The judges set out what stood out. "Our recipient is Head of IFM Operational Performance at Mitie, with more than 20 years' experience in facilities management. He has built a strong reputation for improving operational performance, developing high-performing teams and delivering measurable results," the judges said.
"He has also led major backlog reduction initiatives and embraced AI-driven solutions to improve efficiency, customer experience and operational performance, while remaining committed to coaching and developing future leaders," they added.
The Facilities Management UK Leader 2026 result reflects where the facilities management profession is heading. Strong process discipline, backlog reduction and the practical use of AI are becoming the benchmarks for operational leadership, and John Jenkins combines them with a visible commitment to developing the next generation of FM leaders.
The Facilities Management UK Leader 2026 result sets a benchmark for operational leadership, with the next awards cycle offering another opportunity to recognise progress across the sector. Stay tuned for details of the Facilities Management Awards UK 2027.
