Savills Ireland, part of United Kingdom-based international property services provider Savills plc, has acquired independent building and project consultancy practice The Building Consultancy for an undisclosed price, as reported by BE News.

The Building Consultancy, founded in 2007, has almost 20 years of delivery in the Irish market and is a specialist adviser to occupiers, funders, commercial property owners and professional advisers.

The acquisition expands Savills capability in building surveying and project consultancy, covering technical due diligence, pre-acquisition surveys, development monitoring, project management, cost consultancy, building surveying, interior architecture and design. With the addition of The Building Consultancy team, Savills now employs more than 30 specialists delivering these services across Ireland.

Mark Reynolds, managing director of Savills Ireland, said building and project consultancy has become a core requirement in investment, financing and occupation decisions as clients seek greater certainty, independent assessment and clear analysis before allocating capital. He added that The Building Consultancy has built a strong reputation in this space and brings a high-quality team with excellent market credentials.

Reynolds said the expertise strengthens capability and allows Savills to provide clients with greater technical insight, broader reporting and increased capacity in response to evolving regulatory, financial and environmental, social and governance requirements.

Alan Baldwin, managing director of The Building Consultancy, said joining Savills represents a natural progression for the business. He added that over the past two decades the company has focused on delivering clear, independent technical advice supporting investment decisions, development programmes and occupier strategy.

Baldwin said becoming part of Savills allows the business to bring that expertise to a broader client base whilst continuing to provide the detailed, objective analysis that funders, investors and occupiers rely on when making major property decisions.
