US-based sports, recreation, wellness and events facility management company The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC) has acquired Northeast-based Spirit Golf Management, establishing a new Golf Division within its national platform and adding 10 golf facilities and approximately 160 full-time and seasonal employees to its network.
Golf Course Industry reported that Spirit Golf will continue to operate under its existing brand following the acquisition, the financial terms of which were not disclosed.
Spirit Golf Management, headquartered in New Jersey, specialises in municipal golf course operations, youth player development programmes, and community-focused golf initiatives, managing and providing consulting services to 10 golf facilities across Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
Spirit Golf founder and president Mike Attara will lead the new golf division as SFC's senior vice president, with Kevin Beirne joining as vice president. Attara is a PGA of America Golf Professional with more than 35 years of experience and was named the 2025 NJPGA Golf Professional of the Year.
Eric Sullivan, partner at SFC, said the partnership positions the company to better serve the communities it works with while adding meaningful operational and business resources to Spirit's portfolio.
Attara said: "Our focus has always been to make golf more accessible while creating welcoming environments for players of all ages. Our standard of excellence in operations, teaching & coaching, event management, community engagement, and customer service aligns perfectly with SFC's mission. Through SFC's network, we have additional resources allowing us to expand youth programming and integrate the Spirit Golf Academy model to off course facilities nationwide."
