International government services provider Serco has successfully retained its facilities management contract at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) following a competitive tender process, securing a renewed agreement worth more than £270 million (€315m) over 10 years that takes effect immediately and extends Serco's integrated soft and hard FM service delivery at the site through to January 2037.
Sharecast reported that Serco has delivered critical services at NNUH for 25 years, with the renewed contract covering contract management, catering, laundry, waste management, security, car parking and grounds maintenance.
Under the agreement, Serco will continue to deploy risk management and workflow software tools to drive efficiency in task allocation across portering and cleaning, improving productivity and responsiveness across the hospital estate. Hard FM services already provided by Serco at the site will be aligned with the renewed soft FM contract, extending fully integrated service delivery under a single provider.
As part of its commitment to the site, 42 Serco colleagues at NNUH are currently taking part in an apprenticeship programme, while young people with learning disabilities or autism spectrum condition are being supported through the NHS-partnered Work Matters initiative, which has supported 144 participants since 2011.
Anthony Kirby, chief executive of Serco Group, said: "I am extremely proud of the role Serco has played delivering critical services at NNUH for the last 25 years, which I have seen first-hand. My sincere thanks go to our exceptional colleagues involved in delivering for patients across the hospital estate, whose dedication, care and compassion have a positive and lasting impact."
